40 Days For Life Campaign Over but Fight Continues

Little Rock, AR – Pro-life supporters campaigned against abortion during the final day of  40 Days for Life.

Bundled up, braving the bitter wind chill Sunday (3/24), pro-life supporters gathered in front of Little Rock Family Planning Services in West Little Rock to wrap up another campaign. They did it through all the weather elements

“We’ve been out here for 40 days,” explained one supporter. “But then you have that one and it’s all worth it.”

Activists committed their time during the 40 Days for Life campaign to changing hearts and minds of the women who drive up about to make what this group considers a fatal decision.

“If they stop then I simply hand them a brochure that talks about their options to abortion,” said supporter, Mary Pate. “We don’t want them to make a decision that’s going to haunt them for the rest of their lives.”

It’s that same decision though that another group, on the same weekend, gathered to support.

Lawmakers passed a law banning abortions after 12 weeks – despite a veto by Governor Beebe.

The American Civil Liberties Union says a lawsuit will be filed in federal court.

“That’s the thing that it’s my choice and I can’t choose for anybody else,” said Erin Jackson. “So you need to be supportive what a woman chooses to do.”

The 40 Days for Life group hopes a woman coming the abortion clinic changes what she chooses to do. They say this year it worked.

Director, Kandi Cox explained, “More babies saved in this campaign than we have in any of our previous campaigns.”

While they consider this time around a job well done and 16 babies lives saved is a huge success, ultimately they say they would love to see abortions totally abolished. They’ll keep at it until that day comes.

Cox added, “It’s the end of the 40 Days for Life campaign for the Spring but it’s not the end of the fight and the battle and the prayer that we do out here every day.”

The 40 Days for Life group encourages anyone out there who may be battling with this decision to give them a call.
