75-Year-Old Garland County Man Dies in SUV Crash

SALINE COUNTY, AR – A 75-year-old Garland County man died in a sport utility vehicle crash on August 1 in Saline County, according to Arkansas State Police. 

William H. Staton of Hot Springs National Park was driving a 2005 Toyota 4Runner west on U.S. 70 when the crash took place, police said. 

A 2006 Jeep being driven by Breanna R. Talbert, 25, of Conway was going east on U.S. 70 at the time of the crash, police said. 

A 75-year-old woman identified as Mary V. Staton of Hot Springs was in the Toyota with William Staton and an unnamed girl, according to a fatal crash report. 

Talbert traveled across the double yellow lines and into Staton’s lane, striking his vehicle, the report states. 

After the crash, the Jeep overturned onto its right side, and the Toyota was pushed back onto a guard rail, according to ASP. 

Mary Staton, Talbert and the minor were all injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries is unknown. 

The girl was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, police said. Talbert and Mary Staton were taken to Saline Memorial Hospital, the report states. 

The crash took place at 5:57 p.m., and the weather was clear at the time of the accident, according to the report.
