AUGUSTA, AR – An 8-hour standoff in Woodruff County ended late Tuesday night in the arrest of Eric Bottoms, 32.
Local authorities went to Bottoms’ home on North 13th Street around 3 p.m. Tuesday to arrest him. At some point during the process, Bottoms fired a flare-gun at an Augusta police officer. At that point, local police called in state authorities for back up.
Around 4 p.m., the Arkansas State Police SWAT team responded to the standoff.
Negotiators were able to speak with Bottoms around 9:30 p.m. He surrendered about 11 p.m.
Bottoms was transported to a local jail and charged with aggravated assault.
