WYNNE, Ark. – A Forrest City man arrested earlier this month for a string of church burglaries in St. Francis County has been charged in a Cross County church burglary.
Davan Cochran, 25, is accused of taking $2,600 worth of musical equipment from Butler Chapel Church in Parkin.
Deputies called to investigate the case found a door had been pried open.
The Cross County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) says while working with the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation found a piece of the stolen property from Butler Chapel after Cochran’s arrest for multiple church burglaries in St. Francis County.
The CCSO says some of the property from Butler Chapel Church was found at a Memphis pawn shop and they are in the process of getting the property returned to the church.
Deputies say Cochran was recently released from prison for commercial burglary and as a condition of his parole he was required to wear a GPS monitor. A check of his GPS locations put him at all of the burglaries in which he was charged with, says the CCSO.
Cochran was arrested earlier this month after being found with items reported stolen from Zion Temple Church and deputies also tied him to three other church burglaries in St. Francis County at Cedar Grove Church, New Hebron Church, and Lighthouse Ministries.
A second individual is also sought in the case. He is identified as Jonathan Murray, of West Memphis.
