BENTON, AR – A local woman has been arrested after she allegedly drove drunk to the police department.
That’s according to the Benton Police Department (BNPD), which reports the Monday afternoon arrest of Kimberly Yancey, 44.
The BNPD says she called 911 from her car and told dispatchers she thought people were trying to “get her.”
Officers in a department parking lot first approached Yancey after noticing her hanging out of her vehicle and yelling at them. Police say she was agitated and talking very fast. She soon became more agitated and tried to drive away from the officers but was stopped in the parking lot of the Municipal Building.
Yancey faces charges of suspected DWI, possession of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police say there were pipes and straws inside her vehicle that are commonly used to take narcotics.
