LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas Republican Party has picked its political director for the 2012 elections.

The party on Monday announced that Michael Lambert of Conway will head up the GOP’s effort to win federal and state offices in November.

Lambert will be responsible for the state party’s 2012 Victory Program. He will coordinate fundraising, grassroots efforts and supervise field staffers.

In 2010, Lambert directed the state party’s effort to get out the vote. Two years before, he held duties similar to those he’ll have as director for the coming elections.

Republicans hold three of the state’s four U.S. House seats and want to win the seat being left open by U.S. Rep. Mike Ross. The GOP is also trying to win majorities in the state Legislature.
