BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to four counts of misdemeanor harassment for offensive statements he made on Twitter about Bentonville High School students.
The Benton County Daily Record reports the boy was placed on juvenile probation for one year and was ordered to perform community service and undergo counseling.
The boy told Circuit Judge Mark Fryauf on Monday that he wrote “rude comments” on a Twitter account called Freezebook. He said he was the only person who posted tweets from that account.
One posting mentioned a student’s sexual experience, while another tweet accused a person of having a sexually transmitted disease.
The judge also ordered that the boy not have access to the Internet, but he granted an exception for school-related purposes.
