NORTHEAST, Ark.– Recently a semi-truck stopped at a welcome center in Clay County in Northeast Arkansas and left a few hundred bees behind.

A Texarkana man was traveling to Wisconsin where the bees would be used to pollinate cranberries, but when he stopped to water the bees a few hundred made the welcome center their new home.

Ever since the center has been seeking a solution to their new bee problem. The center contacted two bee farmers, who both visited and left with a hive.

Despite the helping hand, they are still dealing with the inconvenience.

Barbara Harmon, the Welcome Center Manager says, “The Highway Department has us to put up cones and signs to kind of warn people to stay out of the area and we did put up signs saying beware of bees because we didn’t want people going out there around them.”

The bee keepers told those with the center that so many bees stayed in the area because their queens likely stayed too.

Now the center is still looking for more bee keepers who may be able to help with the issue. Anyone who would like to help can contact the Arkansas Welcome Center in Corning.
