BENTON, Ark. – A young baseball fan from Arkansas will be in the stands tonight in Boston for Game 1 of the World Series.

Third grader Lucy Calhoun, 8, says she’s the ultimate Boston Red Sox fan.

Her team hosts the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 and the first pitch is set for 7:09 Central Time.

To get to the game, Lucy had to prove her fan status to the MLB Network with a video submission.

“Before the All-Star game, I entered a video to see if I could interview the players for the All-Star game, but I didn’t get to,” she explains.

“It’s how big a fan are you and by sharing that video they chose kids,” adds her dad.

“My favorite players are Andrew Benintendi and Mookie Betts,” she says in the video.

She wasn’t chosen for the All-Star game, but something better.

“I didn’t think it was real,” she continues.

“Lucy got chosen for the World Series,” he dad says.

So, off the Calhoun’s went, from Benton to Boston, ready to live out Lucy’s dream.

“I have questions to ask specific players,” she says. “I’m going to ask Andrew Benintendi to call the Hogs with me.”

She also wanted to ask them ‘Who is your hero? and what was it like to play baseball growing up.’

“I’ve always dreamed I’d get to sit at Fenway with my wife and three girls and thought, ‘Oh I’ll be retired, and so I think getting to go and sitting at Game 1 with them, I’ll be emotional,” Lucy’s dad says.

With a love for the game passed down from dad to daughters, they’re living out the dream together.

Lucy and her family will head back home on Wednesday.
