Benton Police Arrest Conway Man in Forgery Case

CONWAY, AR – A Conway man is behind bars after police say he deposited fraudulent checks at Benton bank.

On January 13, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a fraud that occurred at the Bank of the Ozarks at 7250 Alcoa Road.

Detectives named Howard Canten, 40, of Conway as a suspect in the case.

According to a report, detectives discovered that Canten had attempted to deposit two fraudulent checks worth $10,000.

Detectives arrested Canten on Feb. 3 and charged him with 2 counts of Forgery and 1 count of Theft of Property.

This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
