CLARK COUNTY, AR — The body of a missing Ashley County man has been found.
Clark County Search and Rescue found Wesley Livingston, 24, around 7:30 p.m. in Gurdon off of Rudolph Road.
Livingston had last been seen on March 10 at the Georgia Pacific plant in Gurdon where he worked.
Livingston’s body was found in a thickly wooded area within 5 miles of the plant.
“The initial discovery and investigation suggests that Livingston’s death was self-inflicted,” states a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Livingston’s body has been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy as the investigation continues.
“We have worked around the clock to find Wesley since he was reported missing. Unfortunately, this was not the outcome that any of us had hoped for. Throughout our search efforts, we held out hope that we would be able to bring Wesley home safely. I have stayed in contact with Wesley’s family throughout this search, and our prayers and thoughts will continue to be with them. At this time, we are continuing our investigation and will report more details once our investigation is concluded,” said Clark County Sheriff Jason Watson in a news release.
Sheriff Watson thanked the numerous law enforcement agencies and volunteers who assisted in the search for Livingston and who have worked tirelessly over the past two weeks. Those agencies include: Ashley County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkadelphia Police Department, Gurdon Police Department, the Clark County Office of Emergency Services, as well as a number of other law enforcement agencies throughout southwest Arkansas
