BENTON, AR  —  A water main bursts in Benton causing a the utilities department to have a boil order.

Around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Benton Utilities Water Department was notified that a water line had burst at the intersection of Hicks Road and Alcoa Road in Benton.

This caused about 25 customers to lose water pressure. The following area is included in the boil order:  All customers on the south side of Alcoa Rd from the intersection of Chris Dr to the intersection with N. Shady Lane, the customers on Hicks Rd south of Alcoa, and the residents of the Timbermist Subdivision.

The affected customers are requested to boil their water briskly for at least 1 minute prior to consumption as a precautionary measure.  Samples of the water in the effected area will be carried to the Arkansas Health Department for testing first thing Wednesday morning. They hope to have results by late Friday afternoon. Until that time, a boil order will be effect.
