Bridge Work in St. Francis County to Cause Temporary Closures

ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, AR (News Release) — Bridge work will require temporary night lane closures on Interstate 40 in northeastern St. Francis County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

A crew will be removing a safety platform from the new Highway 149 bridge over I-40.

They will then install the platform to the old bridge. Both bridges are located at Mile Marker 260, east of Shell Lake. Crews will also paint the new 334 foot bridge if weather conditions are appropriate. The work will occasionally reduce eastbound and westbound traffic to one lane.

The occasional lane closures will begin Monday, Jan. 6, and will continue approximately two weeks. The closures will only occur between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
