LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) — The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) is seeking submissions for the local competition of the Veterans Creative Arts Festival.
Veterans who receive care within the CAVHS catchment areas are encouraged to enter the competition. Applications are available through the Recreation Therapy office located in Building 170 on the North Little Rock campus. Entries are due by 4 p.m. Feb. 18.
Veterans are provided an opportunity to express themselves through the arts and to gain recognition for their creative talents and skills. Information about the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival is available here.
The competition includes 51 categories in the visual arts division ranging from oil painting to leatherwork to paint-by-number kits. There are 100 categories in the performing arts pertaining to all aspects of music, dance, drama and creative writing.
Winners in the local competition will be announced on Feb. 21 after the showing in the Building 170 Razorback room. Be sure to check CAVHS Facebook page for pictures of all entries. First-place winners will be entered into the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival taking place later this year.
