Cell phone app can track your children

With the Arkansas State Fair this week and Halloween right around the corner, technology can now help you keep track of your children.

For less than ten dollars a month, you can track your child’s every move through their cell phone.

“It just is a safety measure that allows you to know where they are at all times,” says Verizon’s Ginger Daril.

It is a safety measure that could help ease the worries of parents during this busy time of the year. The Family Locator app from Verizon can track up to ten mobile devices using GPS technology, so you never lose track of your loved ones.

“In case there’s an emergency, in case you’re having trouble finding someone, if someone’s not picking up the phone, you don’t know what could’ve happened to them,” adds Daril.

You can log onto Family Locator through your cell phone, computer or tablet.

It also allows you to set up geo-fencing, or virtual boundaries, for certain users.

“If you have a teenage driver, and you tell them to stay in the city limits of Little Rock, if they go outside of the city limits, you get a notification,” says Daril.

The cost is $9.99 a month. The app also helps you find missing phones, and it has a bonus feature for parents of teenage drivers.

“You can also see how fast they’re driving on Family Locator,” says Daril.

You can sign up for the Family Locator by downloading the app on your phone. If you need help, you can go to the Verizon store.

The location is accurate within 150 to 500 feet when GPS is available. It’s less accurate if GPS is not available.
