WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR – Charges have been dropped against a man who was facing trial for the 2006 killing of a college student.
Rico Cohn, 29, had been jailed since 2012. He was accused in the strangulation death of Nina Ingram, 21. Her body was found in her Fayetteville apartment in April 2006.
The case had been unsolved for years before police arrested Cohn.
Washington County Prosecutor Matt Durrett says a key witness in the case has died of natural causes.
Cohn was released from the Washington County Jail today.
According to Fayetteville Police, the case will remain open for at least one year and will close if no new information is learned. There had not been an active investigation since Cohn was arrested.
