LITTLE ROCK, AR – Many people are replacing their old box TV’s with flat screens or their Wii’s with Xbox’s the day after Christmas.

So instead of those old electronics in the trash the city is helping you recycle them.

“Can I drop this off sir? Yes you can sir, no problem we will take care of it.”

It’s the day after Christmas and these old electronics are getting the boot.

“Big old TV’s, microwaves, computers, coffee makers, whatever they got that they got in the house they want to get rid of,” says Chris Perry.

Chris Perry is spending his day after Christmas making sure Little Rock residents don’t throw dangerous things like that in the trash.

“There are traces of mercury and such as that we would like to keep out of the landfill. pPus large components take up alot of landfill space,” says Melinda Glasgow.

So say you got new electronics for Christmas and want to get rid of your old Wii or your old iPhone. Well the City of Little Rock will toss it for you.

The Green Station is located on Kanis and sponsored by the City of Little Rock.

Once a week it accepts everything from TV’s to webcams and disposes of them for you.

“They are properly deconstructed and recycled down stream. It does not go to third world countries or anything like that,” says Glasgow.

So all day Perry waits to help Little Rock residents do the responsible things with their old electronics.

It’s not just Little Rock that has the electronic recycle program, there is one location in every city within Pulaski County.
