CONWAY, AR — The Conway Public Schools’ Board of Education is looking into ways it can make its schools safer, more tech savvy and great places for teaching and learning over the next five years.

CPS Superintendent, Greg Murry and other district administrators spoke on the CPS five-year planning process at the district’s monthly Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.

Murry said three separate committees — teaching and learning, secure environment and technology — met in January to brainstorm ways CPS could improve in these three areas in order to the district to stay current and competitive.

“We believe these three areas represent areas where we can grow in,” said Murry. “Not that we have weaknesses or we are deficit in those areas, but we believe that as we continue to improve as a district that these are three areas that we want to focus on to make sure this is everything that we can for our students.”

Curry said the district chose five years to implement an improvement plan because in previous years, they tired 10, but technology and learning programs change too quickly.

He added that it was too early to say what this five-year plan would consist of because it was still in early phases. But the meetings are set to continue through May.

Once details are decided, Murry said the plan would be implemented in Conway schools by the fall semester.
