CONWAY, AR – Conway residents visited the polls today for a special election re-dedicating a sales tax for road construction.

The current one-eighth sales tax to support mixed use development and a new I-40 exit south of Conway expires in seven years.

If voters approve today, that bond will continue collecting $1.6 million in revenue through 2045.

“People in Conway recognize that growing cities have growing transportation needs and some of the projects in this bond proposal are going to fix some acute traffic problems. And I think it’s something that most Conway residents welcome.” says Jamie Gates.

The city sales tax in Conway sits at 1.75 percent. That’s on top of a 6.5 percent state sales tax.
