LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Central Arkansas Healthcare workers getting some love from the sky Thursday as the Blue Angles flew around the metro saluting those on the frontlines of the COVID-19 fight.

Baptist Health Springhill President Mike Perkins says his staff appreciates the gesture from the sky.

“Everything that’s been done, the smallest of things to do things like this have just been encouraging,” said Perkins.

Things have settled down at Baptist Springhill but early on in the pandemic it wasn’t quite as calm.

“I think it at the beginning there was a lot of anxiety and a lot of fear probably just cause it’s the unknown of it all,” said Perkins.

Perkins believes that this pandemic has shined a light on the healthcare industry.

“It has given the community and I can’t really see the good work that’s done and I think the employees really feel that,” said Perkins.

He says his staff has been overwhelmed with the love and support they’ve been shown recently and hopes that when things are more normal that continues.

“That people will you know continue to hold nurses and doctors and therapists and pharmacies and all of our staff in high regard,” said Perkins.

When the Blue Angels come flying through, it’s a big deal itself and Perkins says the people they come through for are a big deal too.

“It’s a good reminder that what we do is important and it means something and I think the staff is absolutely appreciative, said Perkins.

Perkins says that the emergency room here has still been relatively slow and assures the public that they are doing everything possible to maintain safety and sanitization should people need the ER, but maybe still apprehensive about coming in.
