BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in northwest Arkansas say three teenage girls have been arrested for allegedly posting harassing messages on Twitter.
The Benton County Daily Record reports that two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old were arrested Thursday on suspicion of making harassing communications. The girls, who weren’t identified because they’re minors, were given citations and will appear in juvenile court at a later date.
The three were arrested because of a Twitter account called Burnbook10, which posted sexually explicit tweets about several Bentonville High School girls last fall. The account has since been disabled.
In a separate case, a 12-year-old boy in Bentonville was arrested last week on similar charges for posts from a Twitter account called Freezebook.
