LITTLE ROCK, AR – Lieutenant Governor Mark Darr, R-Arkansas, apologized Thursday for $9298 in reimbursements he paid himself for mileage accrued in his personal vehicle.
A legislative audit found two instances of improper spending, unallowed use of state funds and lack of documentation.
Darr told the committee under oath that he was unaware he was doing anything wrong until the audit revealed the travel reimbursement issue.
“We are fully aware now after this process that the seat of government is Little Rock and that applies to me,” Darr says.
The audit also found Darr using a state credit card for $2239 in personal expenses of which $1202 has been paid back for the state.
The audit says Darr wrote a check for the remainder $1,137 but the amount was never located on the credit card statement.
“I believe we’ve submitted documentation that shows the state has actually received it but from where it went from there I don’t know,” Darr told committee members.
