GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. – A local high school student has been arrested in the investigation of a report that they posted a “death list” on social media that included some fellow students and faculty members.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) says the possible threat of violence was reported by Mountain Pine High School Principal Denise Taylor to the school resource officer on Monday.

The GCSO says the 16-year-old student’s mother was brought in for a conference during which the list was found in the student’s backpack by a school official.

The juvenile was taken into custody and sent to the Garland County Juvenile Detention Center.
They are being charged with Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree, a Class D Felony.

“We are well aware of the recent incidents of school violence and take all possible threats very seriously,” says Garland County Sheriff Mike McCormick.

Additional patrols will be set up in the Mountain Pine School area as an extra precaution, says the Sheriff’s Office. The case is still under investigation.

As of mid-morning on Tuesday, this was the 13th arrest of an Arkansas student for making threats against their schools or who brought a weapon to campus.
