DFA Releases Detailed List of Ark. Furloughs

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has released the latest furlough numbers, and they aren’t as high as previously estimated.

According to a Federal Shutdown Program Analysis report issued by DFA on Monday, six programs are not being allowed to continue, 14 are reporting partial furloughs, 27 are continuing all programs, and six DHS agencies are delaying possible furloughs by submitting fund analyses for review.

Last Wednesday, Governor Mike Beebe sent a letter to state agencies notifying them of the impending program suspensions due to a lack of state funds to cover employees or programs who receive federal funding during the shutdown.

The letter also informed agencies that the DFA would be available to review federal correspondence for exceptions regarding the protection of public health, safety and welfare, and that programs wishing to continue would need to obtain certification from the Chief Fiscal Officer of the State.

DFA currently estimates the total number of state employees either fully or partially furloughed at 590.
