Dog Shot, Killed During West Memphis Home Break-in

WEST MEMPHIS, AR – An investigation is underway after a local man reports a home break-in that left his dog dead.

The West Memphis Police Department says it happened early Saturday afternoon on Johnson Drive.

That’s where a 68-year-old man told police that the suspect had forced his way into his home and robbed him at gunpoint.

The victim told officers he escaped from the suspect out a back door and when he later went back inside his home, he found his dog shot dead. 

“It is rare that we have an incident of this nature happen in our city. Our detectives are working diligently to positively identify the suspect and apprehend him as quickly and safely as possible,” said West Memphis Police Chief Donald Oakes in a news release.

Crime Stoppers information is confidential and Crittenden County Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in this matter.
