LITTLE ROCK, AR – A former officer with the Little Rock Police Department has died after being injured in an early morning incident with another man.

Police say it happened around 4 a.m. Friday at 1510 Bragg Street and that Todd Payne died after being taken to the hospital.

The incident began when Ean Bourdeaux called 911 about a man, later identified as Payne, trying to destroy his hot dog cart. The man had left after the first alleged attempt and later returned to try and damage the cart again, according to police.

When Bourdeaux confronted him, Payne ran, but was caught by Bourdeaux within a short distance.

Police say at that point, “while Bordeaux was engaged with suspect, the suspect sustained injuries that later led to his death.”

Police are not yet releasing any further details.
