HAZEN, Ark. – Authorities say a group of suspects that could be responsible for as many as a dozen carjackings in the Memphis area remain behind bars in Prairie county after a police chase through Hazen on Thursday.

Only our cameras were rolling as two of the four men were escorted into the jail by officers.

“Well, this is a small town, and nothing like this every really happens around here,” Dominique Williams says.

Williams works at a kindergarten prep program located in a Hazen neighborhood just feet away from where police’s chase with the carjacking suspects ended.

“Very tiring,” Bradley Taylor, the chief of police in Hazen says. “Very tiring.”

Exclusive dash cam video shows the chase as it entered Hazen just before 3 a.m.

All four suspects eventually bailed from the car and scatter into the night; not far from Hazen schools.

Three were caught fairly quickly. Police say one hitched a ride with his girlfriend back toward Forrest City. He and she were both eventually picked up by a state trooper.

“It was a group effort,” Taylor says. “Everybody worked together, and we got all four of the bad guys.”

Meanwhile, Williams remains grateful for the way this chase ended.

“We don’t need that around here. The Hazen police chief says six investigators from the Memphis police department are expected to be in Prairie county Thursday, and that they will be pursuing federal charges for the suspects.”
