After inspecting the Fair Park Gardens apartment complex, Little Rock Code Enforcement officers found several problems that do not comply with safety standards.
Multiple units need repairs and the property itself didn’t pass inspection.
Debra Profit says since she first reported the issues in her unit to code enforcement, officers inspected the entire complex and issued citations for management to fix the problems.
Andre Bernard is the Director of Housing & Neighborhood Programs for the City of Little Rock. He says he noticed some exterior violations that need to be addressed, and saw several property issues that need to be addressed.
Profit says the maintenance staff came by once, but the problems with her unit still aren’t fixed. Management says Profit caused the damage herself and she is financially responsible.
Profit says, “Well, if I wrecked the apartment, I guess everybody else wrecked theirs too, right?”
Bernard says the management at Fair Park Gardens received multiple citations to appear in court for life safety code violations. “There were several violations that we noticed when we did the inspection. It was not confined to that one particular unit.” Profit says she just wants her apartment fixed.
Management says the policy at Fair Park Gardens is to address problems as soon as they are reported, and every issue at the complex will be addressed and corrected within the next sixty days.
A judge will determine if any fines will be issued for the code violations.
