LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The U.S. is on track to break the record of the number of measles cases since the disease was declared eliminated.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today reported 71 new cases of measles.
The number of cases this year is now at 626.
Measles was declared eliminated in 2000.
Since then the highest number of reported cases in this country happened in 2014.
At least 22 states have reported measles cases this year.
Arkansas is not one of them.
No one has died from measles in the U.S. this year.
