BENTON, Ark — We’re learning more about a Pine Bluff man accused of murdering his wife.
Stephanie Turntine was found dead in Benton Sunday. Her husband, Molten Oglesby, turned himself in to Pine Bluff police later that day.
Turntine’s cousin, Jessie Hill, explained the possible connection between the crime scene and Pine Bluff.
“We played together as kids back in the 60s,” said Hill.
Hill said he grew up in Benton with Oglesby.
“Pretty good athlete,” said Hill. “Yeah, we played football … ran track.”
Oglesby is now the prime suspect in his wife’s murder.
“I’m still in shock,” said Hill.
Hill is also Turntine’s second cousin.
“I’m still at that stage like ‘What?’ I couldn’t see something like that,” said Hill.
Hill said rumors began to spread after Oglesby and Turntine were reported missing from their Pine Bluff home last Tuesday.
Investigators said they found a large amount of blood inside the home, but no sign of husband or wife.
“Somebody had called and said he had done something to her, said Hill. “But I’m wondering how can you come to this conclusion when you hadn’t found either one of them.”
Sunday, Hill said Oglesby called Turntine’s mother and told her his wife was inside a well … a couple of blocks from Hill.
“We used to play there as kids. That’s a gym,” said Hill. “That used to be the gymnasium for the blacks.”
Benton police did find Turntine’s body, while Oglesby gave himself up in Pine Bluff.
“I just hate to see stuff like that happen,” said Hill.
Now, Hill’s wondering how a marriage that seemed so right …
“We had a family reunion last year,” said Hill. “Everything was cool.”
Could go so wrong.
“It’s different ways to solve problems and I don’t think that is the right way,” said Turntine.
Oglesby is facing capital murder and kidnapping charges. He is expected in court Tuesday.
