LITTLE ROCK, AR – Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there. Sunday, we went in search of dads celebrating with their families and found many men at the home improvement store alone.

This Father’s Day is not a day of rest for Brandon Douglas.

“I’m installing a garbage disposal among other things. Changing the oil and everything,” says Douglas.

Douglas will work on his list of projects all weekend, while other dads get some time to themselves.

“That’s my Father’s Day present. They leave me along so I can work on my Model T,” said one dad.

And, we found at least one son looking for a last minute gift for his father at Home Depot.

“He’s always got something going on or something. Just trying to find something to organize his stuff for him,” said Mitchell Wilson.

“It was very crazy yesterday and a lot of our stuff is gone already.”Kristen Graddy at the Crown Shop.

At the Crown Shop, the cards were already picked through Sunday.

According to the National Retail Federation, Father’s Day spending is up this year with the average person spending more than 117-dollars on their dad. That’s up ten-percent from last year.

“We had a lot of super hero themed things this year. You know, dad, the other super hero type thing,” said Graddy.

That’s exactly what Douglas got from his kids today.

“My kids woke me up, they woke up today and got a new outfit. Little Batman T-shirt like my son has, so he was pretty excited that that’s the one I picked. They let me choose between Superman and Batman T-shirts this morning, so I’m partial to Batman,” he says.

And now, this super hero dad is well-equipped to fix his family’s garbage disposal.

Hallmark says it sells 94-million Father’s Day cards every year. The holiday ranks fourth in card sales behind Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
