LITTLE ROCK, AR — An attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice says a Little Rock man sold anything but used cars at his auto shop on Forbing Road near I-30 and University.
A major drug bust went down at Brewster’s Used Auto and Detail Shop early this morning.
U.S. Attorney — Christopher Thyer — says the shop’s owner used his business as a cover for a large scale, multi-state drug trafficking operation.
Thyer says, “We believe it was a cover for their drug traffic organization. We have not been able to identify any used car sales.”
An FBI investigation began in January 2013 and wrapped up early this morning with 23 arrests.
As part of this bust, FBI agents say they seized 20 cars along with nine ounces of crack cocaine, 165 pounds of pot and $35,000.
Freddie Brewster is the accused ring leader of the operation, but agents say he had plenty of help.
Since January 2013, FBI agents say in “undercover buys” they bought more than 1.75 kilos of cocaine from the Freddie Brewster Drug Trafficking Organization.
Thyer said, “These were very dangerous individuals and the streets of Little Rock are frankly safer tonight because these individuals are behind bars.”
FBI agents are still looking for two people involved with this drug trafficking organization.
U.S. Attorney Thyer would not comment on what information led up to the under cover investigation.
