JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. – Three area restaurants have been shutdown by federal agents.
Two of the restaurants are in Pine Bluff, the other is in White Hall.
All evening on Wednesday, people were pulling into the parking lot of China Kitchen in Pine Bluff only to find it vacant and dark.
It was a similar story at Chef Lee, a popular Hibachi spot in town.
“When I pulled up I saw the people with the shirts standing around the door and it instantly threw me,” says patron Ashton Jones.
The third restaurant targeted by federal officials was Kitchen Kung Fu in White Hall.
Jones and his family drove all the way from Star City to find one of the popular eateries closed.
“With FBI agents and high-end people coming over here trying to break up this restaurant, it’s kind of got me worried what they got going on in there,” adds Jones.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says search warrants were executed at all three locations but the warrants are sealed and they can’t talk about what’s going on because it’s still under investigation.
Jones and many others in town say they’re disappointed to see the restaurants close but want answers as to why.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says no arrests have been made and they’re hoping to release more information on Thursday.
