The Ouachita Mountain region has been experience a series of flash floods this weekend. At 6:32 am this morning we had to enacted our High Water Notification. Currently we have all the gates opened at Remmel Dam and releasing around 80,000 cfs. Lakes Hamilton is currently at 401.19 and falling. Lake Catherine is at 305.48 and falling. Flow from Blakely Dam was stopped by the Corps of Engineers early this morning. The Big Mazarn Creek, which is our largest source of inflow is dropping. The Little Mazarn Creek, the next highest source of inflow is still rising but we expect for it to turn very soon. There have been reports of minor flooding and numerous loose boats and boat docks. The Ouachita River has experienced substantial additional flow from tributaries below Remmel Dam. Everyone should use extreme caution.Click here for other information on high water flows.
