Former Teacher Fights for Tougher Hate Crime Laws after Sex Video Appears on School Website

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A simple click followed by a series of unfortunate events, even thoughts of suicide.

“I knew as far as how I would do that,’ said former teacher Brian Bray.

Bray taught high school math at Maumelle’s Academic’s Plus High Charter School until last fall. That’s when he believes someone hacked his online file storage, found a personal sex video then posted it to the school’s website.

Bray was then fired.

“Completely flabbergasted,” he said.

In a statement issued Friday the school said:

“At this school students will always be our priority.  To that end, when this incident was brought to our attention in September 2015  we followed protocol.  That included immediately notifying the proper authorities to conduct investigations.   We are satisfied with  actions the school has taken.”

“I want justice brought for whoever was responsible for this,” said Bray.

He believes the hacking was a hate crime. Bray said he knows he should not have even uploaded the video to the file storage site.

A letter from the State of Arkansas in January told Bray he did nothing wrong. He is calling on state leaders to strengthen the state’s hate crime laws.

“We have nothing here in Arkansas and so that’s something I would like to lobby for, something I would like to bring awareness too,” he said.

Officials at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said its Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the hacking.
