Friends talk about teen who stole wallet, then killed

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Friends and family members of 14-year-old Michael Stanley gather at Oak and 27th Streets Thursday night, the place where his life ended earlier in the day.

“I just cried for an hour and a half when I heard about it. It was tough,” said brother Zamir Bunche.

Little Rock police say the teenager stole a wallet from 58-year-old Michael Sadler at Asher One Stop convenience store.

Investigators say Sadler went after the teen in his van, chasing him into a field, and then running him over. Police tell us Sadler then begin to hit and kick the boy.

“I feel like the man (Stanley) got the wallet from could have went a different way about the situation because he could have called the police,” said Keyuana McCoy.

Little Rick police say any witness or victim of a crime should call 911, which Sadler didn’t do.

When asked whether Sadler felt sorry for his actions when walking out of the Little Rock Police Department to a waiting jail transport vehicle, he replied “Yes I am.”
