Funeral Today for Wildlife Officer Killed in Flash Flood Rescue

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Funeral services are today in Waldron for an Arkansas Game and Fish wildlife officer killed in a flash flood rescue last week.

Flags are flying at half-staff across the state by order of Governor Mike Beebe in tribute to Joel Campora.

Officer Campora, 32, of Waldron, died during a water rescue last Friday in flash flooding that also killed Scott County Sheriff Cody Carpenter and two Y City residents.

Officer Campora’s life celebration will be at 1:00 this afternoon at the Waldron High School Sports Complex.

Memorial funds have been established at First National Bank, Community National Bank and Chambers Bank for Campora’s family.
