LAKE HAMILTON, AR – A Lake Hamilton firefighter is in the hospital tonight after getting run over in a bizarre overnight accident. A Hot Springs woman now faces battery charges.
“He’s normally the one going on the hit-and-run calls, this time he was involved.”
Isaiah Sirio says his stepdad, Lake Hamilton firefighter Terrance Weever is lucky to be alive.
“He’s in the ICU, he’s going to be there for a while,” Isaiah says.
A disturbance broke out early Wednesday morning on Paulleo Lane, just south of Hot Springs. Sirio says he and his stepdad came outside to find a crowd, cars driving crazy and a woman slashing tires, so the off duty firefighter tried to put a stop to it by calling 911. That’s when he was hit.
“She spun out, I heard her speed up. They connect and everything. It was bad,” says Isaiah.
A Garland County Sheriff’s report names Tara Williams as the driver who hit Weever. Deputies arrested Williams as an ambulance rushed Weever to the hospital.
“I don’t know if she meant to do it or not,” says Isaiah.
Chandler Bouton says she didn’t. He says he was in William’s passenger seat when Weever was run over. He admits they were driving away fast, but says Williams didn’t mean to hit anyone.
“There were two people running up there. We swerved and missed one but by the time we swerved to not hit the second one it was already too late,” Bouton says.
A brief narrative in the accident report says Williams told deputies she was trying to get away from her husband.
“People were attacking the car and there was a gun involved so we were trying to get away from that,” Bouton says.
As for reports of tire slashing, Bouton says that had to do with a dispute Williams was having with her husband.
Tara Williams faces two counts of battery and two counts of criminal mischief. She is no longer in Garland County custody.
