LITTLE ROCK, AR — Mike Ross’ campaign to be the next governor picked up a key endorsement Saturday.
Fellow Democrat and current governor Mike Beebe pledged his support for Ross’ bid.
Beebe, who is term-limited, says he got to know Ross during their time serving together in the state legislature. He says they share the priorities of education and economic growth.
“I saw him come in as an eager very, very young state senator and grow throughout that process,” he said. “One thing that was consistent from the very first day until the day that we stand here together is his understanding and responsiveness to the people that elect him.”
Ross is a former congressman right now running unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Former Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter dropped out of the race last month.
Ross’ likely Republican challenger — Asa Hutchinson — faces a three-way battle in the GOP primary next spring.
