LITTLE ROCK, AR – Arkansas governor Mike Beebe says he looks forward to meetings on Tuesday involving the legislature and members of the Arkansas Highway Commission as a response to recent winter storms.

A joint House and Senate Transportation Committee meeting is set for March 11th.

Highway commissioners will then hold a special meeting at AHTD headquarters later in the day.

Beebe says he understands construction and an accident greatly hampered road crews efforts on I-40 and I-55 in eastern Arkansas, but welcomes a more in-depth review.

“I hope they will look at what went right and what went wrong, how they can do better, how other states did particularly where the roads bordered other states,” Beebe says. “We had photographs to suggest other states roads were in much better shape just immediately across the board.”
