SALEM, Ark. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged an Arkansas National Guard soldier with threatening to shoot students at a high school in Fulton County, though the soldier claims he was just trying to shock his friends.
Fulton County Sheriff Buck Foley says 22-year-old Jacob Morley is charged with falsely communicating a terroristic threat for a statement he made to two soldiers on Aug. 4.
The Batesville Guard reports the two soldiers took the threat seriously and notified authorities. State police conducted an investigation, which led to Morley’s arrest.
The arrest affidavit says Morley was training at the armory in Mountain Home he was considering the shooting. Morley allegedly said he wanted the teachers to carry the guilt.
The affidavit says Morley admitted making the statement but he was just trying to provoke a reaction.
