LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- A West Little Rock salon and day spa suddenly shuts its doors, leaving customers and employees in the dark.
Many clients of Indulgences by Body Bronze say they’re now out hundreds if not thousands of dollars and they haven’t been able to get ahold of anyone with the spa.
“It’s not cheap to be a patient here,” says Laura Calloway, who has been a loyal Indulgences customer.
She’s trying to figure out what caused the business to quickly and quietly close its doors.
“There’s nobody there. The building is completely empty,” says Calloway.
Calloway purchased a laser hair removal package and had only used a few of the appointments. She called to reschedule but the next day got an email saying they were closed for good.
“All it said was we are sorry and we’re sad to say that we’re closing our doors,” says Calloway. “We’re permanently going to be closed for business.”
She is one of many customers who say they prepaid for package treatments and now are out money.
Even the employees were blindsided.
“It’s just shocking,” says Kayla Holdford. “That was my income and me and my fiance just purchased our first home.”
Holdford was working as a receptionist at Indulgences the last few months. She last worked Friday and on Monday got an email like everyone else.
“I didn’t get a voicemail or a text message from any of my superiors or anything like that letting me know,” says Holdford.
Now she’s left scrambling to look for another job and customers are trying to figure out how to get their money back.
“I was pretty ticked because $1200 is a lot of money to be out,” says Calloway. “At least let people know before they just left and didn’t say anything to anybody.”
We reached out to Indulgences and the listed owner of the spa, but were not able to get ahold of anyone associated with the business.
The Arkansas State Attorney General’s office says they’ve received more than 20 complaints since Indulgences abruptly closed its doors. The AG’s office says they will be aggressively looking into the matter and that if any Arkansan has prepaid for services not provided by the spa they should contact the AG office. The Better Business Bureau posted on their website that as of January 8, 2018 Indulgences was permanently closed. You can also file a complaint with the BBB.
