LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Pulaski County Circuit Court judge has told former middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor that he will consider allowing him to post bond next month.
Taylor, 36, of North Little Rock, has been jailed since late May. He was back in court Tuesday morning for a status hearing.
When the pro boxer returns to court again next month in a battery case, Taylor’s mental evaluation is also expected to be discussed.
Taylor has pleaded not guilty by mental disease or defect in an incident at a local rehab facility that left a fellow patient injured.
His current incarceration is the third for Taylor within the past year following a shooting incident at his home last August and another gun-related incident in Little Rock in January.
