Judge Gives Hot Springs Man 87 Months for Child Porn

HOT SPRINGS, AR — A Hot Springs man will spend some considerable time in prison after pleading guilty to receipt of child pornography in June.

Conner Eldridge, United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, announced Thursday that 50-year-old Paul Dunn, of Hot Springs, was sentenced to 87 months in prison without parole and five years of supervised release for downloading child pornography from the internet.

“Victimizing innocent children is horrendous and inexcusable. Every time a video or image involving sexual abuse of children is downloaded or viewed, those children are re-victimized. We will continue to aggressively prosecute cases such as this and hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable,” Eldridge said in a news release.

According to court records, beginning in August of 2011, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce launched an undercover internet investigation into the online trafficking and possession of child pornography in the Hot Springs area that eventually led to the discovery of child pornography images from a computer that was later determined to be owned by Dunn.

On Feb. 1, 2012, authorities seized Dunn’s computer and other digital media as evidence after executing a federal search warrant at his home. A subsequent forensic examination on the seized evidence revealed numerous images of child pornography, including multiple videos of minors engaged in sexual conduct with adults, according to Eldridge.

Dunn pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography on June 7, 2013.
