LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR – A family in Lawrence County was in shock after discovering their pet hanged.
Misty Henderson and her children found their dog hanged Wednesday afternoon. It happened while they were away from their home along Highway 91.
Henderson said when they returned from town, she heard her daughter scream. Lexi Lishman had just found her 6-month-old Golden Retriever/Husky mix hanged from the storm cellar.
Henderson said she immediately called the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
Lishman, almost in tears, said that she cant’ believe someone would do something like this.
“He just took him from me. I don’t know who would kill somebody’s baby. A dog is just like a person. It’s a defenseless animal,” she said.
Henderson said it couldn’t be an accident because the dog never got on the storm cellar, and their gate was open when they got home.
They are offering a monetary award for information that leads to an arrest.
Jamie White with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department says they are investigating the case as cruelty to animals.
