HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, AR — The son of a woman authorities say was attacked and killed by a bull mastiff has filed a civil lawsuit against the dog’s owner and the person caring for it at the time.
The suit seeks $2.5 million in damages as a result of his mother’s death, claiming multiple instances of negligence, including releasing without restraint a 130 pound dog on a public way and harboring a dangerous animal.
Joan Kappen was killed by the dog on Nov. 21 while walking down Ornado Lane in Hot Springs Village.
