LITTLE ROCK, AR – A local woman has been killed in a hit and run.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the city’s southwest side.
The victim is identified as Jesusa Chavez, 47, who police say was walking along Mabelvale Pike near 33rd Street.
A person who was walking with her was in shock after it happened and could not give police much information. The person said they were crossing the street when the vehicle appeared to speed up before hitting the woman.
Two people standing outside the Paper Moon club reported seeing a mid-size SUV hit the woman and continue southbound on Mabelvale Pike. One of them said the vehicle was silver.
Chavez was pronounced dead on arrival at UAMS.
