LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – May marks the beginning of skin cancer awareness month and today has been coined Melanoma Monday.
It’s a day focused on raising awareness about the most harmful form of skin cancer.
Melanoma affects one in five Americans in their lifetime and kills more than 7,000 people each year.
Experts say you should look for any spots that are changing in size, shape or color over time or if the area is itching or bleeding.
You should see a board-certified dermatologist as soon as possible if you notice any suspicious spots on your skin.
