MEDFORD, New Jersey – Troy Gentry, half of popular country duo Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash Friday afternoon, the group announced in a Tweet.

The crash reportedly happened around 1 p.m. in Medford, New Jersey. The group was set to perform tonight in Medford at the Flying W Airport and Resort.
The details of the crash are still unknown.
Gentry was 50 years old.
“Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time,” the Tweet’s statement read.
