ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Arkadelphia is preparing to say a final goodbye to its beloved parks and recreation director.
Mike Volz died Saturday, nearly one month after suffering a heart attack.
We’ve followed the city employee’s story closely as the community rallied behind the 52-year-old who fought for weeks to wake up from a coma.
We learned Volz was cracking his usual jokes in the hospital until his health took a sudden turn on Friday.
His oldest of two kids talked to us about the legacy his dad leaves behind.
“Give it all you got and if somebody needs help, give them help. It doesn’t matter if they’re a bad person or good person, he was going to help you,” Alex Volz says.
Volz also leaves behind his fiancée Margie.
His memorial service is set for 10 a.m. this Thursday at Third Street Baptist Church.
The community is welcome to attend.
